Working in partnership with a key client, GBC UK have been supplying MCA clamshell cutting machines to remove redundant gas pipework from structures in several locations across the north west of England.

This project is part of an initiative to improve the safety of the structures due to various incidents being reported. Some including members of the public climbing on the pipework over rivers and roads.

GBC UK are proud to be part of this initiative and are extremely happy that the use of our “cold cutting” MCA clamshell machines has improved the safety of cutting the pipes. Eliminating the use of oxy fuel cutting and the inherent risks that go with it.

This week we have been busy installing the Hycube 12-24″ pipe cutting and bevelling machine into a customers premises. The Hycube is from our stationary machine range, with this particular one being used in a production line to save on time & money.

The track pipe supports seen being used to feed the pipework are also GBC manufactured in our Italian CE certified factory.

Great work by Mike in the GBC UK team and our manufacturing facility to produce and deliver this machine during a difficult time for the industry!

Peter has visited a customer this week who has our MCA 24″ cut & bevel machine on hire to help with some tricky cuts & bevel preps in situ.

The material specifications – 28″ carbon steel, wall sch 40.

Swarf Collection Silicon Seals

A recent customer request for a solution to stop swarf falling into the pipe when bevelling downwards. The adapted K series silicon seals were modified to be fixed onto the Mini K abutment cap. The team made them in varying sizes to suit the customers specification. Also available on some of our other ID locking bevelling machines.

GBC Beam Edge

The GBC Beam Edge plate bevelling machine is an adaptation of the Compact Edge machine. It is designed specifically for edge bevelling of H beams.

With a variable angle of the bevel achievable between 0 – 60 degrees. The Beam Edge also utilises the Edge series milling head with 9 carbide inserts to ensure a smooth, mirror finish.

A selection of photos from a recent demonstration of the GBC MultiEdge Plate Bevelling machine carried out shows the capabilities and finishing this machine offers.

The material bevelled : 22mm thick Duplex 2205 at a 45 degree bevel angle.

Working to the customers specification, we produced an X prep (double V) with two 10mm deep preps with a 2mm face, all in under 20 minutes!

Our team used the hardened inserts that have been specially designed for Duplex material leaving an impressive mirror finish as shown below.
